Valsartan Recall

July 16, 2018

Foster’s Food Fair-IGA would like to announce that the Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall on Valsartan due to contamination of a carcinogenic impurity, N-nitrosodimethylamine.

N-nitrosodimethylamine is a semi-volatile organic chemical that is highly toxic and is suspected to be a human carcinogenic. A human carcinogenic classification means that the substance is hazardous and has the potential to cause cancer in humans.

Foster’s IGA does carry Valsartan and has been affected by this recall. All affected products have been pulled from the shelves.

All Valsartan branded products are included in this recall.

Customers should check for Valsartan branded products in their homes to be sure none of the affected product has been purchased. We encourage all customers who have purchased this product from any of our Foster’s IGA locations to return the affected product for a full refund. Please discontinue use of any affected product

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out by email
