Teva Pharmaceutical Recall — Foster's Supermarket

Teva Pharmaceutical Recall

December 07, 2018 | NOT AFFECTED

Foster’s Food Fair-IGA would like to announce that Teva Pharmaceuticals has issued a voluntary recall on all Amlodipine or Valsartan combination tablets and Amlodipine, Valsartan and Hydrochlorothiazide combination tablets within certain expiry dates, due to an impurity detected above specification limits in an active pharmaceutical ingredient manufactured by Milan India.

The impurity found in Mylan’s valsartan API is known as N-nitroso-diethylamine (NDEA), which has been classified as a probable human carcinogen. This chemical is typically found in very small amounts in certain foods, drinking water, air pollution, and certain industrial processes. Amlodipine/Valsartan combination tablets and Amlodipine/Valsartan/Hydrochlorothiazide combination tablets are used for the treatment of high blood pressure. Patients should check with their pharmacist if they believe they have been using any of the above combinations.

Foster’s IGA does carry Teva Pharmaceuticals branded products but has not been affected by this recall.
