Nutrition

Stay hydrated, whilst staying fresh.

  • Watermelon has an average 92% water content.
  • Watermelon is a good source of vitamin C, pantothenic acid, magnesium, copper, biotin, and B vitamins.
  • Watermelon has one of the highest sources of lycopene which has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antihypertensive properties.

Growing Facts

  • Watermelons are sensitive to cold temperatures, and even a mild frost can severely injure the crop.
  • It takes a watermelon 80 to 95 days to become full-grown.
  • Watermelons require a constant supply of moisture during the growing season (about 240 gallons of water!) However, excess water at any time during crop growth, especially as fruit reaches maturity, can cause the fruit to crack, which will reduce crop yields and fruit quality.
  • There are over one hundred thousand acres of watermelons grown in the United States alone, producing over 40 million pounds a year.
  • Watermelon production is relatively sustainable.
