Priced Right affected by Wonderfull Pistachios Recall
March 14th, 2016
Foster’s Food Fair-IGA would like to announce that Wonderful Pistachios is voluntarily recalling a limited number of flavors and sizes of in-shell and shelled pistachios due to a risk of Salmonella contamination. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
According to Center for Disease Control and Prevention, some of their products may be linked to an outbreak of Salmonellosis. The products, which were distributed through several retailers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Peru, can be identified by a 13-digit lot code number found on the lower back or bottom panel of the package. The specific products and lot codes are attached.
Priced Right locations do carry the 24 oz and 40 oz Wonderful Roasted Salted In-shell Pistachios. The affected products have been pulled from the shelves. We encourage all customers who have purchased this product from any of the Priced Right locations to check codes, and return the affected product for a full refund. Please do not consume the recalled product.
