Apio, Inc. Recall on Eat Smart Single-Serve Salad Shake Ups

December 17, 2018 | NOT AFFECTED

Foster’s Food Fair-IGA would like to announce that Apio, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall on some of its Eat Smart Single-Serve Salad Shake Ups (Bowls). The recall was issued as a precautionary measure after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) informed the company that one random sample of the product with Best Before Date of December 14, 2018 tested positive for Listeria Monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
