AFFECTED

Foster’s Supermarket would like to announce that General Mills is recalling Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Ice Cream sold in select markets due to identification of trace levels of ethylene oxide (ETO). ETO is a pesticide and sterilant. At Haagen-Dazs, we do not use ETO in any of our products, which are regularly tested in accordance with the national standards. The trace levels of ETO mentioned can be sourced to one ingredient (vanilla extract) provided by one of our suppliers. The levels of the detected substance marginally exceed authorized thresholds with regards to regulatory standards.  

Affected products

Only Plain Vanilla Haagen-Dazs ice-cream products (pints, mini-cups and bulk) are affected by this voluntary recall procedure. No other Haagen-Dazs favors or formats are concerned. The problem can be sourced to an ingredient (vanilla extract, and not vanilla bean) provided by one of our main suppliers.

All affected products have been removed from stores. If consumers have products matching the above description in their possession, they should dispose of it immediately.

Any unopened affected product may be returned to your local Foster’s for a full refund with the original receipt.
